Script & Media Consultancy

From a young age, I have been conscious of the media portrayal of Care Experienced people. It was clear to me that the portrayal of those who grew up in care or were a part of the care system wasn’t always fair or accurate.

Since 2018, I have been offering consultancy as someone with lived and professional experience of poverty and the care system to those working on or creating stories. The primary area of this work has been on stories about Care Experienced people, those who grew up in care and the care system.

I have worked with Dame Jacqueline Wilson, overseeing a sensitivity read of We Are The Beaker Girls and co-ordinating positive media around the book.

Further to this, I worked with the BBC and Emma Reeves, providing research and consultancy on the script for My Mum Tracy Beaker & The Beaker Girls.

I have also worked with Penguin Randomhouse, Paramount Studios, Sean Anders and others on the media portrayal of Care Experienced people and marketing of stories.

In 2019, I was awarded the Sheila McKechnie campaigning award for my work in this area.

I have experience of consulting on how children in different types of care, whether it’s children’s homes, foster care or kinship care are shown in films, TV shows and books. If you’d like to get in touch with me about providing consultancy on a story you’re working on, please get in touch using my contact form.
